Transformation sounds challenging. But it can be simple.

To those of us in the Western world, Yoga is something that we do to promote our health and fitness. But behind what we know about Yoga are thousands of years of philosophical development. Yoga philosophy contemplates the major problems and worries of life.

How can I find my true self? How can I face death? How can I live my best life, including how to have an abundance of health and wealth? How can I meet my ideal partner and create an ideal life with them?

The ANSWER to these and other problems and dilemmas of life lies in the answer to the first question. Focus on finding your true self, and ALL of these problems will evaporate. Which brings us to the issue of Transformation. We all seek it, we all want to move from a life in which we are merely coping, to a life in which we are fulfilling ourselves, free from everyday stress and distraction. Meditation, therapy and coaching all have something in common. None of them are trying to ADD anything to you. They are all focused on stripping away from you what does not belong.

The answer to all of your problems is....YOU.
You being yourself, you being the person who can invent games, and play games, and win at games, and lose at games without actually losing anything. This is a very optimum state of being. And this aim is at the core of every kind of therapy and all of coaching and pretty much everything in the world of Self-Development and Self-Transformation.

How to achieve this? Well, this is the somewhat pristine state you arrived in when you were born. Since then the disappointments of life have worn you down. You soaked up the poor solutions of those around you. You gradually built an 'identity' with which to face the challenges of life, but this 'identity' was never going to work for you. What is now needed is a kind of ego-deconstruction, a breaking down of false solutions, and a rediscovery of the essential YOU. You can certainly achieve this in coaching and in therapy. Step by step. Or you can have a number of collisions in life that will shake you to your very core. These collisions are your inadequate, unconsciously constructed identity hitting up against situations and problems that you can't solve. You don't have the information, the experience, or you have the wrong information or bad experiences that are causing you to flinch so much you can't even concentrate on the present moment.

This may sound bad, but it isn't. It is easily remedied. A few hours of therapy, along with some regular coaching, can get you back in touch with your true self and travelling a track that will work for you. Nobody will ever live a human life that has no problems in it, or no pain. All you need to know is that you can be yourself, consult your inner wisdom, your inner confidence, your inner calm, and deal with life as it happens.

This is the hidden secret of Transformation. Positive change in life is not really 'transformation'. We are merely shedding aspects of identity that are not in alignment with our true Self. In coaching this is done largely by working with Values and Ideals, and aligning our Goals and Purposes with those higher aspects of our self. It is also achieved in coaching by challenging and handling false and limiting Beliefs. In therapy this kind of positive change is done by examining times of loss or failure, releasing any pain attached to them, and making new decisions about life.

Everything I have mentioned here is the essence of what is delivered at Conscious Gain, the coaching and self-development business I have been running for 15 years now.
